Museum of Railroads – Installations & NAVIGATION SYSTEMS

As Art Director at Pitch Media, I led the visual storytelling, interaction design, and creative development for a suite of interactive installations, objects, and graphic design of museum navigation systems at the Museum of Russian Railways. The project aimed to translate the history of rail transport into a dynamic, immersive experience for museum visitors – bridging archival content with contemporary media technology.

One of the centerpiece installations was a rotating roundtable interface, designed as a physical manipulator to control an eight-screen projection mapping environment. As visitors turned the large circular table, they seamlessly navigated through historical epochs of railway development – each accompanied by synchronized panoramic visuals, motion design, and contextual soundscapes.

Other parts of the museum I worked on included mobile interactive objects and their graphic design, and the overall graphic design of the museum navigation systems.

My responsibilities included crafting the narrative structure, developing storyboards and visual treatments, and overseeing the design system across all interactive components and museum navigation. I collaborated closely with UX designers, motion teams, graphic designers, and developers to ensure the visitor journey was intuitive, educational, and emotionally resonant.

Highlights:

  • Designed a tactile interactive control system using physical motion for narrative navigation
  • Oversaw storyboarding, interaction logic, and art direction of projection-mapped visuals
  • Translated historical content into an engaging, real-time immersive experience
  • Delivered a permanent museum installation with high visitor interactivity and educational value
